This painting uses cool earth colors and a combination of oil and wax to create a landscape focusing on brushwork, color and form. Like many of the artists paintings the landscape comes in and out of focus to some degree. In the case of this painting, horizontal, diagonal and mountainous forms create the majority of the composition while not becoming too literal. The many layers of paint and process are evident upon closer inspection and the oil paint combined with cold wax creates subtle transparencies and washes of color.
